President Muhammadu Buhari has communicated lament over the prolonged fuel shortage across virtually the 36 states in the country.
He said he feels for Nigerians for having “persevered through unnecessary fuel lines”.
In an announcement issued on Sunday, December 24, 2017, Buhari guaranteed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is working relentlessly to control the situation and bring it to am end.
He verbally expressed he has directed regulators in the oil and gas industry to step up their surveillance and bring a cessation to hoarding and price inflation of petroleum products by marketers.
The President stated, “The fuel shortage being experienced across the country is lamentable. I feel for all Nigerians, on enduring unnecessary fuel lines. I’m in effect routinely informed, particularly on the NNPC’s interventions to ascertain that there is sufficient petrol accessible amid this period and beyond.
“I have the NNPC’s affirmation that the circumstance will improve significantly over the next few days, as incipient shipments and supplies are distributed across the country.
“I have likewise directed the regulators to step up their surveillance and bring an end to hoarding and price inflation by marketers.”
He expressed gratitude toward Nigerians for their understanding and patience, assuring that the pertinent agencies will perpetuate to provide timely reports (updates) on the situation.
